A knit look crochet hooded scarf, made with one stitch
This knit look crochet hooded scarf is worked entirely in slip stitch
through the back loop only — one stitch, from the first row to the last. The
free front loops line up into neat vertical ribs, and the finished fabric is
almost indistinguishable from knitting. People will ask you when you learned
to knit.
It is a long, generous scarf with a soft hood and two tapered points that
hang at the front, ready to be wrapped, crossed or knotted. And because there
is no stitch pattern to track, it is one of the most restful projects in the
shop — the kind you pick up while watching something.

Why slip stitch makes crochet look knitted
Slip stitch is the shortest stitch in crochet, so it produces almost no
height — which is exactly why it mimics knitted fabric so convincingly. Worked
through the back loop only and turned every row, it builds the same vertical
ribbing you get from knit and purl. The pattern explains all of this properly,
with close-up photos of where the hook goes.

Because this is a digital file, all sales are final. But if anything is ever

finish your scarf than leave you stuck on row 40.
